Edna Louise Blundell, 89, of Chetopa, died at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Chetopa Manor, where she had resided the past two months.
She was born August 18, 1919, in Oswego, Kansas, to Burl and Mollie (Fields) McGee. Louise lived in the Welch and Chetopa areas all of her life and was proud of her Indian heritage.
During the Korean conflict, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, and later as crossing guard for Chetopa Schools and also as a dispatcher for the Chetopa Police Department until retirement. She served as a volunteer for the Chetopa Ambulance Service during the 1960's and 1970's, worked at Glen Berry Manufacturing in the 1960's, and for many years, enjoyed writing for the Chetopa Advance.
She was a past member of the Chetopa Assembly of God Church where she served as secretary of Women's Missions, and was a current member of the Chetopa Community Bible Church where she had served as secretary and treasurer of the ladies group for several years.
Her hobbies included making lap robes and bibs for nursing home residents, knitting, and crocheting doilies. Louise had made hundreds of baby quilts for missionaries through the years, and especially enjoyed dancing and calling square dances.
She and Jewel McDonough were married in 1936. He preceded her in death in February 1938. She and Willard Blundell were married November 9, 1940. Following 25 years of marriage, he preceded her in death March 23, 1966.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jess Thomas, Cal Thomas, and Bill Thomas; and three sisters, Lucile Siegel, Leota McCord, and Nell West.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
