Edward J. "Ed" Burke, 61, of Parsons, died at 8:40 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2013, at his home. He was born January 17, 1952, in Parsons, Kansas, to Lawrence F. and Alice M. (Nunnick) Burke. He attended school in St. Paul and was a 1970 graduate of St. Paul High School where he held several football records. He then attended St. Mary of the Plain College in Dodge City and Neosho County Community College. Following school, he lived in Southeast Kansas throughout his adult life. He was employed by the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for 23 years as a vocational supervisor until retiring in 2011. He enjoyed remodeling homes and old cars. In earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed trips to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, with his wife and family and backyard barbeques. He loved to make people laugh with his famous jokes and also enjoyed watching football. He and Susan Green were married October 21, 1972. They later divorced. On November 12, 2005, he and Carla (Smith) Brown were married. She survives of the home. In addition to his wife, survivors include: Two Sons – Aaron Burke and his wife, Sheila St. Paul, KS Adam Burke and his wife, Robyn St. Paul, KS One Daughter – Amber Seme and her husband, Ryan Parsons, KS One Stepson – Scott Baker Parsons, KS Nine Grandchildren Two Brothers – Tom Burke St. Paul, KS Jim Burke and his wife, Debbie Parsons, KS One Sister – JoAnn Forst and her husband, Jim Lamar, MO He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2013, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to PALS (Proud Animal Lovers Shelter).
