Edward E. "Pete" Journot, 83, of Parsons, passed away at 1:08 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Elm Haven East Nursing Home.

Edward Emanuel Journot was born on June 23, 1936, to Emanuel B. and Nellie Mae (McNamara) Journot in Parsons.  Pete grew up and attended school in Parsons.  After graduating from St. Patrick Catholic High School in 1954, Pete attended Parsons Junior College.

He moved to Kansas City and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for a time.  For twenty years, he worked as a computer operator and programmer for Ford Motor Company.  In 1972, Pete returned to Parsons and worked on constructing homes in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons and a 4 th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  Some of Pete's favorite activities were hunting, fishing and woodworking.  He also enjoyed travelling.

Pete and Carol Cowden were married.  They later divorced.  He married Marilyn Joy Gusterson.  They later divorced.  On December 21, 2002, Pete and Leona (Stringer) Clifton were married.  She preceded him in death on January 8, 2014.

Survivors include:

Two step-sons – Rodney "Rod" Clifton and his wife, Joann, of Springfield, Missouri

Rick Clifton of Joplin, Missouri

Three step-daughters – Tammy Goodyear and her husband, Rick, of Altamont, Kansas

Renee Pemberton and her husband, Larry, of Parsons, Kansas

Tori Castro and her husband, Tony, of Gooding, Idaho

Twenty grandchildren

Numerous great-grandchildren

One brother – Arley Journot of Parsons, Kansas

Three sisters – Judy Cupp and her husband, Wayne, of Parsons, Kansas

Jeannie Lansman and her husband, Gale, of Columbia, Missouri

Patty Rich of Parsons, Kansas

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, on January 8, 2014; his son, Mitchell; his parents and one sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Jim O'Neal; and sister-in-law, Patricia Journot.

There will be a private family rosary and service.  Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
