Eileen M. Vargyas, 64, of Joplin, Missouri, died at 12:40 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2009, at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
She was born July 2, 1944, in Washington, DC, to Herbert and Maxine (Haines) Tarpley. As a young girl, she grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and moved to Pittsburg, Kansas, in 1980.
She enjoyed sewing, reading and studying history. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She and David Vargyas were married December 2, 1983, in Effingham, Illinois. He survives of the home.
Eileen was a wonderful wife, companion, and lifelong friend to David; a loving mother to Johnna, Maggie and James; and adoring grandmother to five grandchildren, Ryan, Teddy, Danielle, Melissa & Noah; and three great-grandchildren, Christian, Matthew & Caitlyn.
She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
