Elaine T. Jefferson

Elaine Teresa Jefferson, 92, of Parsons, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor following a long, happy and full life.

She was born July 1, 1928 in Parsons, KS to James Patrick and Mary Margaret (O'Connor) O'Hara. Elaine grew up and attended school in Parsons and was a graduate of Parsons High School. Elaine married Horace "Jeff" Jefferson. The newlyweds lived in Washington D.C. until 1951, when they moved back to Parsons, KS. In 1956, they moved west to San Bernardino, CA; only to return back to Parsons for good in 1964.

Elaine was a good and faithful servant and a member of St. Patrick's Cathloic Church. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the St. Patrick's Altar Society. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, and baking. Volunteering at the local hospital as a Pink Lady was one of Elaine's favorite things to do.

She is survived by her son, Robert and Cheryl Jefferson of Andover, KS; her daughters, Kathy and Michael Duffy of Colwich, KS; Ann and Mike Stapleton of Hollister, MO; and Sue and Rick Golloher of Tulsa, OK. Elaine is also survived by her brother, Charles and Nancy O'Hara of Topeka, KS; and sisters Betty Ann Cunningham of Olathe, KS; and Jeanne and Miles Smith of St. Paul, KS. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Doug and Mark Jefferson; Colleen Armbrister; Erin Wood; Robyn Neil; Leigh Ann Hubler; Andrea King; and Angela Giles. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, and cherished friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Horace E. Jefferson. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers: Jim O'Hara, Jack O'Hara, Bud O'Hara, Joe O'Hara, and Mike O'Hara; and her two sisters: Margaret Grillot and Kathleen O'Hara.

The Mass will be live streamed via the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page on September 3, 2020 at 11:00 am. Due to gathering guidelines, Elaine's funeral Mass and burial is limited. The Rosary will be prayed on Thursday, September 3, at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons, KS. The funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons, KS.
