Eldon "Gene" Beye

Eldon E. "Gene" Beye, 54, of Oswego, died at 11:08 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

He was born November 15, 1959 in Eureka, Kansas to Ernest Eldon and Anna Lyvone (Pilkenton) Beye. As a young boy, he attended Whitewater Grade School and was a 1977 graduate of Remington High School.

He worked as a driver at Sunglow Feed for several years before moving to Chetopa in 1987. He then lived in Mound Valley for a time before moving to Oswego where he had lived since. While living in Labette County, he had worked at Diamond Coach in Oswego for ten years and most recently Individual Mausoleum Company in Parsons for ten years.

He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing golf.

He and Joann L. Billingsly were married in July of 1981. They later divorced.

Survivors include his father, Ernest "Eldon" Beye, El Dorado, KS;  two sons, Joseph Templet of Georgia and Carl Beye of Oswego, KS;one daughter, Stephanie Beye of Oswego, KS; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eric Beye of          Inman, KS and Eddie Beye of Goddard, KS; two sisters, Loraine Whiteside of     El Dorado, KS and Lynette Vance of Wichita, KS.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lyvone Beye; his companion, Yellonda Cannon, on August 3, 2013; and a nephew, Nicholas Whiteside, who died in 1991.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
