Elia Mae Schuneman, 88, of Altamont and a former resident of Udall, Kansas, died at 2:50 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009.
She was born March 22, 1921 in Beaver County, Oklahoma to Robert Lee and Emma (Estes) Smith. She was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters, who have preceded her in death.
She was first married to Robert W. Risdon in 1937 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Robert passed away in Wichita, Kansas in 1942. One child, Anita Mae, was born to this marriage. In 1944, Elia Mae married Herman W. Schuneman in Wichita, Kansas. He passed away in 1983. She moved to Altamont in 1988 where she currently resided. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altamont.

Daughter: Anita Mae McCoskey – Columbus, Kansas
Sons: Jack H. Schuneman – Altamont, Kansas
Donald W. Schuneman – Little Rock, Arkansas
Four Grandchildren: Rita McCoskey Lawson, Todd W. McCoskey, Melinda Schuneman Slayden and Jennifer Schuneman Pumphrey
Eight great-grandchildren: Amy Lawson Perry, Adam Lawson, Andrew Lawson, Taylor McCoskey, Alyssa McCoskey, Jack Additon, Kelsey Additon Wonser and Triston Slayden. She also has one great-great-grandchild, Tyler Additon as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Udall City Cemetery in Udall, Kansas. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont after 9:00 a.m., Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
