Elizabeth F. "Fern" Buzzard, 84, of Oswego, passed away Thursday morning, May 26, 2016 at her home.
She was born March 7, 1932 in Hardin, Missouri to Cecil H. and Lela Mae (Tracy) O'Dell. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Plattsburg, Missouri area where she graduated from high school in 1951.
On June 13, 1953, she and Richard "Wayne" Buzzard were married in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Following marriage, the couple lived in Albuquerque for a time before living in various towns in the Kansas City and Humansville, Missouri areas. In the 1970's, they moved to Southeast Kansas where they have lived since.
She was a member of the Living Church of God and had attended church in both Joplin and Chanute. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a quilting club. Fern especially enjoyed sewing, quilting, and loved to cook.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Buzzard, of the home; one son, Randell Buzzard and his wife, Darlene, of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Kathy Beam and her husband, Scott, of Gillette, WY and Debbie Schulz and her husband, Bruce, of rural Parsons, KS; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one sister, Sharon Kay, of Kansas City, MO.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Buzzard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be at Humansville, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
