Elizabeth M. Cooper, 92, of Chetopa, died at 6:07 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.
Elizabeth "Liz" was born November 3, 1920 in Oswego, Kansas to Oliver and Ona (Wilkins) Harshaw. She grew up on the Harshaw family farm between Oswego and Chetopa and was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
Liz and Francis W. Cooper were married May 25, 1941 in Columbus, Kansas. In 1947, the couple moved to California where they owned and operated Cooper's Market in the Los Angeles area. In 1963, they returned to Southeast Kansas where they owned and operated Chetopa Ice and Locker Plant until retiring in 1984. Francis preceded her in death on February 10, 2008.
In earlier years, she was a member of the Oswego United Methodist Church. Liz enjoyed caring for her family, gardening, canning and cooking.

One Daughter – Beth Baltimore, MD
One Daughter-in-law – Mary Jo Scottsdale, AZ
Six Grandchildren – Kim, Matt, Kelly, Chad, Bryce, and Dane
Four Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great-Grandson
One Brother – Kenneth Harshaw TX
Two Sisters – Marian Becker Oswego, KS
Lois Robison Altamont, KS
She was preceded in death by four brothers, one son, John Cooper; and one granddaughter, Jodie Cooper.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
