Elizabeth "Mae" Lessley, 88, of Chetopa, died at 2:20 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2010, at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 13, 1921, in Chetopa, Kansas, to Charlie and Hattie (Hurd) Miles. She grew up and attended schools in Chetopa and was a graduate of Chetopa High School.
She and Miles W. Lessley were married April 19, 1941. He preceded her in death February 8, 1994.
She worked as a secretary for 30 years at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma. She also enjoyed writing articles for the Chetopa Advance for a number of years
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Chetopa and its Christian Women's Fellowship group, V.F.W. Auxiliary and Chetopa Senior Citizens.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Duane Lessley, on September 14, 1984; and one brother, Frank Miles.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010, at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
