Elizabeth "Betty" Scott, 82, of Parsons, passed away at 2:40 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Labette Health.
Elizabeth Marie McCauley was born on December 28, 1939, to Holmes Royal "Bud" and Delores Marie (Nunnink) McCauley, Jr., in Decatur, Indiana. As a young girl, she moved with her family to St. Paul, where she grew up and attended school. In 1957, she graduated from St. Francis High School in St. Paul.
On October 2, 1964, Betty and James H. Scott were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Parsons for a time. In 1966, they moved to Dennis, where they farmed. She worked at Newberry's Soda Fountain, at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for nine years, Big Ed's Dinner Club in Thayer and was a clerk at Moore's Liquor Store for 33 years.
In earlier years, she had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Patrick's. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family.
Survivors include:
Two sons – Kevin Scott and his wife, Shelly, of Dennis, Kansas
Shannon Scott of Dennis, Kansas
One daughter – Julie Scott of Parsons, Kansas
Ten grandchildren
Fifteen great-grandchildren
One great-great grandchild
One brother – Greg McCauley of Wichita, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on December 29, 2014; one daughter, Kathi Lundy; one granddaughter, Jess Scott; one grandson, Mark Lundy, Jr.; two brothers, Chuck McCauley and Bill McCauley; and one sister, Pat Mann.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic School Gymnasium. Burial of cremains will follow at Putnam Cemetery near Erie.
