Elmer J. Stillwell, 94, of Parsons, passed away at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
He was born November 29, 1921 in Chetopa, Kansas to Samuel and Dollie (Davis) Stillwell. He grew up and attended school in Chetopa and was a graduate of Chetopa High School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a pipefitter in Oregon for many years. After his return to Chetopa, he served as Chief of Police there until retiring in 1977.
Elmer was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. His hobbies were gardening and working on farm equipment.
Survivors include:
Two Sons – Edwin Stillwell and his wife, Mary Miami, OK
James Stillwell and his wife, Carolyn Cherryvale, KS
Three Grandchildren – Alicia Brodrick, Joshua Stillwell and Victor Stillwell
Four Great-Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, and one grandson, Jeremy Stillwell.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
