Eric S. "Rick" Briggs, 50, of rural Erie, died Friday, January 14, 2011, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected.
He was born April 28, 1960, in Tucson, Arizona, to Milburn Leroy "Ike" and Margaret Agnes "Peggy" (LeSage) Briggs. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Kansas where he attended Meadow View Grade School and Labette County High School. He later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he graduated high school.
Following high school, he returned to the Parsons area where he had lived since. Upon his return to the area, he attended Labette Community College and worked at the Flesh Company, Rhodes Printing and Sun Graphics for 20 years as a pressman.
He was an avid NASCAR and Kansas City Chiefs football fan. He loved animals, being outdoors, fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He and Peggy Pearce were married March 1, 1980, in Parsons. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his father.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
