Ernest R. Hinman

October 16, 1938 — November 6, 2006

Ernest R. "Bud" Hinman, 68, of Hallowell, died at 11:17 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2006 while working on a construction project near Montana, Kansas. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

He was born October 16, 1938 in Parsons to Ernest Wilson and Elnora Catherine (Stover) Hinman. He grew up and attended school in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1956. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he served in the military police. For a time, he also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked for Rainbow Bread for four years. For most of his adult life, he was self-employed as a cement finisher.

On May 3, 1958, he and Wilma J. "Billie" Jones were married in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in earlier years. He also enjoyed watching his children participate in sporting events, particularly their ballgames.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob Hinman.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
