Ernest J. "Ernie" Seibert, 79, of Parsons, passed away at 12:45 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2020, at his home.
Ernest James Seibert was born on February 28, 1940, to William H. and Ida K. (Harris) Seibert in Mt. Home, Arkansas. As a young boy, he grew up on the Big Island around St. Paul and later moved to Strauss. He graduated from McCune High School. Later Ernie moved to Parsons.
He worked at Princess Homes, Carter Sawmill and Wilson's Sawmill. Until his retirement, Ernie was a welder at Ruskins Manufacturing.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially watching his children's sporting events in earlier years. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and building things.
In 1961, Ernie and Carol J. Castle were married in Galesburg. The couple later divorced.
Survivors include:
One son – Kevin Seibert and his wife, Sherry, of Parsons
One daughter – Kim Brader of Parsons
Seven grandchildren – Shayla Seibert, Hunter Seibert, Baylea Seibert, Brandi Stover, Breanda McConnell, McKayla Brader and Jonathan Brader
Eight great-grandchildren
One sister - LaVera
He was preceded in death by one sister, Leona Middleton, and one granddaughter, Katie Brader.
The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will immediately follow at the McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
