Esther R. Dunn, 68, of Miami, Oklahoma, former resident and longtime businesswoman of Chetopa, Kansas, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Miami following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 1, 1943, at the Assembly of God parsonage in Chetopa, to Laurence and Minnie (Smith) Street. As a young girl she attended Frontier and Center rural schools and was a graduate of Columbus High School.
She owned and operated the Hornets Nest in Chetopa from 1981 to the present. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Chetopa and had attended the First Assembly of God Church in Miami. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and had sponsored the Fine Arts Team at the First Assembly of God Church in Miami. She was an avid Sawyer Brown fan and received great enjoyment when she was able to attend one of their concerts.
On September 4, 1964, she married Willard Dunn in Welch, Oklahoma. They later divorced. He preceded her in death in July 2010.

One Son – Kenny Dunn and wife, Gina Moore, OK
One Daughter – Cheryl Barnes and husband, David Miami, OK
Four Grandchildren – Jessica Bauer and husband, Brit; Kayla Barnes, Amanda Dunn and Logan Dunn
Two Great-Grandchildren – Oliver Bauer and Joey Bauer
One Brother – James Street and wife, Carolyn Columbus, KS
One Sister – Sharon Johnson and husband, Ronnie Baxter Springs, KS
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Chetopa School Gymnasium. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Columbus. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
