Ethel G. Kessler

Ethel G. Kessler, 103, a longtime resident of Altamont, died at 2:45 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Infinia Health Care in Oswego, Kansas.

She was born August 26, 1903 in Edna, Kansas to James Franklin and Martha Alice (Bean) Christmore. As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools in the Edna area and later graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

On August 26, 1923, she and Archie Clifford Kessler were married in Oswego, Kansas. They farmed in Labette County most of their lives. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1968.

She loved gardening, canning and cooking. She also enjoyed playing the organ, singing and playing bingo. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Altamont and the Mutual Benefit Club.

Ten Great-Grandchildren
Five Great-Great-Grandchildren

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, one brother, three sisters, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home in Altamont on Friday, February 23, 2007.
