Etta Lucille Lamm, 88, of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, formerly of Altamont, Kansas, passed away at 9:15 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2009, at Ft. Gibson Nursing Home in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.

She was born March 10, 1921, in Mound Valley, Kansas, to Newland and Florence (Oden) Reeves. As a young girl, she grew up in Mound Valley where she attended school and was a 1939 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

She and Curtis "Marvin" Lamm were married on New Year's Day 1940. She held numerous jobs throughout her life to help support her family. These jobs ranged from helping her husband do long haul trucking during the war, working in a sewing factory, working as an aide in a mental hospital, operating a restaurant, and assisting in the operation of construction projects and a rock crusher plant.

In later years, she loved to do embroidery work and quilting, including embroidering the squares and making quilts for every grandchild. She also served as president of resident groups in the apartment complex and nursing home in which she resided. With the advent of Wii bowling, Lucille became an avid bowler and was part of her nursing home traveling team. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a close family friend and "second daughter", Margi (Eichhorn) Falcon, Altamont, Kansas.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Lamm; two stillborn infants, Dora Jean Lamm and Bobby Joe Lamm; one adult son, Curtis Leon Lamm; and one brother, Howard Reeves.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at the Altamont United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m., until noon Tuesday, at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, 600 East Okmulgee, Muskogee, OK 74403. The memorials will go toward Food for Kids, a program in Muskogee where backpacks of food are sent home with elementary students who would not otherwise have food over the weekend.
