Eugene "Gene" Smith, 71, of Parsons, died at 9:35 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center in Parsons.
He was born October 3, 1940 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri to Alfred Smith and Loretta (Devore) Smith. He grew up and attended schools in El Dorado Springs.
He moved to Parsons in 1966.
Mr. Smith worked various construction jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
He and Sharon A. Dickens were married in 1965. She preceded him in death on November 21, 2008.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
