Eunice Josephine Redburn, 89, formerly of Parsons, died at 2:00 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2006, at the Community North Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was born June 26, 1917 in rural St. Paul, Kansas to James Elmer and Emma (Nolan) Garrison. She attended elementary school in the Lake View neighborhood north of McCune, Kansas. She graduated from McCune Rural High School in 1936.
On September 1, 1940, she married Paul Burnum Redburn. In 1942, they had a daughter Doris Ann. They farmed in Cherokee County until Paul was called into the military service in 1945 where he served in the First Infantry Division in Italy. Eunice and her daughter lived with her father in McCune until Paul was injured and sent home at which time they moved to Cherryvale, Kansas. The following year they moved to Parsons, Kansas.
Eunice was a homemaker and mother who enjoyed cooking, sewing and volunteering. Along with her husband, she was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans, serving in both local and state offices in the DAV Auxiliary. She was also president of her county extension unit. She was a Girl Scout leader and a regular volunteer with the Red Cross Bloodmobile and the YMCA. As a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons, she was president of the Ladies' Ministry and served on numerous committees. In later years, she was a member of the Castleton Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In 2000, Eunice moved from Parsons, Kansas to Indianapolis to be near her family. She remained active and was in relatively good health until having a stroke on August 19, 2006.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, on March 24, 1995, five brothers; Chester, George, Ernest, Roy and Glen, and a sister, Lois Herrick.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Feeney-Hornak Mortuary in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas.
