Evalena Tedstrom Newell, 95, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, formerly of Mound Valley and Parsons, Kansas, died at 10:50 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.
She was born December 15, 1913, in Severy, Kansas, to Harley Isaac and Jennie Olive (Welch) Munday. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Mound Valley where she grew up and attended schools and was a graduate of Mound Valley High School.
She and Clyde Eugene Tedstrom were married May 1, 1931, in Mound Valley. Together they farmed in the Mound Valley area for 38 years. He preceded her in death February 10, 1969. She then moved to Parsons where she worked at Broderick Manufacturing Company and also Lee Manufacturing Company in Cherryvale.
On August 25, 1984, she and Wallace "Red" Newell were married. He preceded her in death in 1994.
She was a member of the Westside Christian Church in Parsons.

Three Great-Great-Grandchildren
One brother, one sister, a stillborn son, and one daughter, Clyda Mathis, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2009, at the Mound Valley Christian Church. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
