Evelyn A. Bogner, 91, of Parsons, passed away at 2:00 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2020, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.

Evelyn Ann Cordell was born on April 27, 1929, to Christopher Joseph and Marie Mary (Strunk) Cordell in Wichita, Kansas. As a young girl, she grew up on a farm and attended school in the Garden Plain area. For a time, she worked at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

On May 2, 1949, Evelyn and Theo Bogner were married at St. Mary – Aleppo Catholic Church in Garden Plain. For the first 13 years of marriage, the couple farmed crops and ran a dairy farm near Garden Plain. In 1962, they moved to Labette County to a farm outside of Parsons raising livestock and crops. In 1997, Theo passed away, but Evelyn remained on the farm.

She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parsons until its closing and was then a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. At St. Mary's she had served as president of the Altar Society, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, taught in the Parish School of Religion and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. She was also a member of the Brown-Bishop Post 704 Ladies Auxiliary, Better Ways Extension Home Unit, Sunshine Friendly Club, Caldwell Circle and Pinochle Club. Evelyn's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She shared her love of baking desserts and recipes through her clubs and family gatherings.
