Evelyn T. Parks

Evelyn T. Parks, 96, of Chetopa, died at 11:05 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2011, at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.

She was born March 23, 1915, in Craig County, Oklahoma, to Nick and Martha (Uhl) Rohmiller. She was a graduate of Welch High School.

Following high school, she taught in one-room schoolhouses, among them Fields school. She also worked as a clerk at Halligan's, Price's and Wedding's IGA, all in Chetopa.

She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chetopa and its Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She and Robert Parks, Jr. were married October 23, 1934. He preceded her in death October 27, 1988.

Four Granddaughters – Connie Miller and friend, Delbert Charlton Chetopa, KS
Sandy Henry and husband, Jessie Chetopa, KS
Pam Midgett and husband, Jerry Chetopa, KS
Nancy McKibben Chetopa, KS
Ten Great-Grandchildren
Fourteen Great-Great-Grandchildren
One Great-Great-Great-Grandchild
One Brother – Nick Rohmiller and wife, Lavenia Miami, OK

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death one daughter, Yvonne Miller, in 2006; by six brothers, John, Frank, Andrew, Harold, Clarence and Henry Rohmiller; and two sisters, Ann Shields and Esther Lester.



Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Chetopa. The rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
