Evelyn Perry, 73, of Oswego, passed away at 10:26 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
She was born May 24, 1944 near Bartlett, Kansas to Forrest John and Mary Emma (Williams) Wertz. As a young girl, she attended Fairview School near Bartlett and later graduated in 1962 from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
She and Charles M. Perry were married October 10, 1965 in Oswego, Kansas. Following marriage, they lived in Indiana and Oklahoma before returning to Kansas in 1982 where they have lived since. Through the years, Evelyn worked as a seamstress at the Glen Berry Garment Factory in Oswego and Fred Ronald Manufacturing Company in Parsons. She and her husband were owners and operators of the former Perry's Trading Post in Oswego.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Oswego. Evelyn was an avid seamstress and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and going to rummage sales. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's activities.

Marvin Wertz and his wife, Patty, of Oswego, KS
Three Sisters – Ellen Ehrlich of Hutchinson, KS
Barbara Shetley and her husband, Rick, of Oswego, KS
Marlene Walker and her husband, Eldon, of Oswego, KS
Sister-in-law – Thelma Wertz of Parsons, KS
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Vernon Wertz and Jerry Wertz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Assembly of God Church in Oswego. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Oswego. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church.
