Evelyn C. Sweat, 86, of Parsons, died at 8:02 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Labette Health.
She was born February 28, 1923, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Arthur Otis and Mamie W. (Coop) Luck. As a young girl, she grew up in Birmingham where she attended schools and graduated high school.
She and William Edward Sweat were married June 22, 1948. In June 1968, they moved to Dallas where they lived until moving to Chicago in 1976. They then moved to Parsons in 1978 where they made their home. He preceded her in death in December 1995.
For many years, Evelyn worked as a waitress in the coffee shop at the Parsonian. She was an Elvis fan, enjoyed reading romance novels, listening to country music, and playing scrabble. She especially enjoyed visiting with her friends and neighbors while residing at Belmont Towers.

Kevin Sweat The Colony, TX
Two Grandchildren – Andrea and Kevin
Two Great-Grandchildren – Avery and Austin
One Brother – David S. Luck Birmingham, AL
One Sister – Betty Brasher Margaret, AL
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Luck.
Following cremation, graveside committal services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons.
