Marian "Evelyn" Williamson was born April 17, 1922, on a homestead, south of Glasco, KS., to William and Grace Cool Olson, and passed away peacefully in her home February 24, 2018.
She graduated from Glasco High School in 1939 and earned her teaching certificate at age 16. Her first job was a small country school near Jamestown, Ks., where she taught 7 students ranging for 1 st grade to 7 th . Christmas 1939 she met the Love of her life, Daniel E. Williamson. They were married October 28, 1940 and farmed northwest of Glasco until 1970, when they moved to town. She was a stay at-home mom until 1972, when she took a job at the school as one of the cooks. Evelyn loved her job, which allowed her to be home before her kids were out of school and still enjoy all the other children in town. She was mom to many and loved them all.
In 1953 Evelyn chartered a bridge club with 7 other ladies and enjoyed playing well into her 90's. She was an avid reader and would frequent the Glasco Public Library. Crossword puzzles and Jeopardy kept her mind sharp. Evelyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Evelyn witnessed many changes in her lifetime. She survived the Great Depression, raised 17 children to adulthood and owned an IPad with facebook to help keep track of her 77+ grandchildren, friends and extended family.
She is loved and will be deeply missed by her surviving children: Mary Lavy, Nancy Briggs, Guy (Ione), John, Barb Holste (Jerry), Katy Morse, Jean Hogan (Bert), Rob (Lorelei), Kevin (Tracy), Joyce Hood (John), Ben and Linda Schmidt (Chad).
