Fern J. Kirk, 60, of Chetopa, died at 2:15 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born December 31, 1951, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Arnold Glendon and Lela Irene (Reed) Kirk. She grew up and attended school in Mound Valley.
For a time, she worked as a personal care attendant while caring for people in their homes.
She had attended the Faith Baptist Church in Chetopa.

Ernest P. Swenson, Jr. Parsons, KS
One Daughter – Lydia I. Kepner Oswego, KS
Eight Grandchildren
Six Great-Grandchildren
Three Brothers – Glendon Kirk Chetopa, KS
Clinton Kirk Commerce, OK
Les Kirk Miami, OK
One Sister – Pamela Taylor Baxter Springs, KS
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
The body has been cremated under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. No services are planned at this time.
