Ferne Brady, 87, of Parsons, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Elmhaven West Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born February 12, 1921 at Cora, Missouri to James R. and Virginia A. (Bundridge) Spencer. She grew up and attended schools in Cora and Milan, Missouri. She also lived in Kirksville, Missouri for a few years where she worked at a dime store. She then moved to Brookfield where she was married toWilliam F. "Bill" Brady on January 9, 1950. They moved to Parsons, Kansas in 1957 where they operated the Brady Shoe Repair Shop until they retired in 1989. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2005.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and later the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. She was a member of the Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of Business and Professional Women, the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was a life member of the Soroptomist.
Survivors include:
One Daughter: Denise Sears and her husband, Bill - Parsons, Kansas
Five Grandchildren
Eleven Great-grandchildren
One Sister: Virginia Ortig - Arlington, Texas
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, five sisters and an infant great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. The Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m., Sunday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends following the Rosary.
Committal services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at St. Michael's Cemetery in Brookfield, Missouri.
Memorial contributions are suggested to either the St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund or Hospice Care of Kansas. These may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O.
