Florence Florine Tanksley, 70, of Columbus, Kansas, died at 5:47 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2009, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born October 8, 1939, in Chetopa, Kansas, to Clarence and Jahazy (Lee) Johnson.
In 1986, Florence earned her GED. Through the years she worked as a bus driver and head cook for Unified School District No. 493 in Columbus, retiring in 1985.
She was baptized at Southside Christian Church in Baxter Springs, Kansas, and later attended Neutral Christian Church in Neutral, Kansas.
She and Ray Tanksley were married January 30, 1960, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until service time, Wednesday, at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 605 Locust, in Chetopa.
