Francis M. “Mike” O’Hara, Jr., 86, of Parsons, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Prairie Misson Retirement Village, in St. Paul.
Francis Michael O’Hara, Jr., was born on January 21, 1939, to Francis Michael O’Hara, Sr. and Mary Wilson in Parsons, Kansas.
Following graduating from Parsons High School in 1958, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1958-1964. Mike worked at MKT Railroad as a brakeman for many years before retiring in 1989.
Mike married Patricia Finnerty on June 10, 1961, and to this union five children were born. The couple later divorced in 2016.
In his spare time, he enjoyed sitting on his porch, waving at traffic passing by and visiting his neighbors. When he wasn’t outside enjoying his neighborhood, he was a fan of listening to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals on the radio.

Son – Tom O’Hara and wife Christina of Parsons, Kansas
Daughters - Debbie Groves and husband Steve of Grove, Oklahoma
Kathy Madl and husband Terry of Grove, Oklahoma
Beverly Schoenhofer and partner Jon of Parsons, Kansas
Brenda Johnston and husband Brian of Parsons, Kansas
Eight grandchildren
Eight great-grandchildren
Sisters – Jo Ruttgen of Oswego, Kansas
Cathy Woolard and husband Gary of Oswego, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson; Payton Allen, brother; Pat O’Hara, and sister; Shirley Casey.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Parsons, Kansas. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family has requested memorials to Gentiva Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
