Francis Swanwick

Francis Darrell "Sonny" Swanwick, 93, of Oswego, passed away at his residence at 12:15 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2019.

Sonny was born on January 2, 1926, in Oswego, Kansas, to Frank and Mildred Louise (Walker) Swanwick. He grew up and attended school in Oswego, graduating from Oswego High School in 1943.

On July 10, 1945, Sonny and Alma McCorkle were married in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2018.

The couple lived and farmed for over 60 years on farms within a five-mile radius of Oswego. One of Sonny's greatest enjoyments was traveling.

Daughter-in-law - Nancy Swanwick, of Ft. Scott, KS

Six Grandchildren – Matthew Swanwick, Daniel Swanwick, Mark Swanwick, Jessica Swanwick, Elisha Dilbeck, and Elizabeth Swanwick

Ten Great-Grandchildren

Three Sisters – Shirley McDaniel of Angola, KS

Phyllis Czapansky of Parsons, KS

Sharon Swanwick of Tulsa, OK

Numerous Nieces and Nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, on March 26, 2018; one son, Daryl Keith Swanwick on December 18, 2018; two brothers, Larry Swanwick and Jerry Dale Swanwick, and two sisters, Tina Rice and Erma Jean Swanwick.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Oswego Cemetery.
