Frank M. "Sonny" O'Banion, III, 53, of Parsons, died at 3:35 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health. He was born December 17, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Frank Marion O'Banion, Jr. and Maggie Marie (Cape) O'Banion. While growing up, he lived with his family in various states. In his early teen years, his family moved to rural Erie where he attended Jr. High School and was a 1977 graduate of Erie High School. Through the years, he worked in various retail stores and later in ethanol manufacturing in Colwich, Kansas. In 1999, he began employment at the Individual Mausoleum Company in Parsons where he has worked since as a sandblaster and carver. He enjoyed camping, fishing and studying Native American customs which he was active in. He also had been very active in donating blood with the American Red Cross. He and Sally M. Denney were married October 11, 1980 in Parsons, Kansas. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include: Three Sons – William O'Banion and wife, Kimberly Parsons, KS Frank Marion "Ryan" O'Banion, IV and wife, Kayla Parsons, KS Robert O'Banion and April Amos Parsons, KS One Daughter – Julia Rosenberg and husband, Fred, Jr. Parsons, KS Ten Grandchildren – Lauren, Aidan & Sean O'Banion; Keagan Heiskell, Karly Waun, Peyton O'Banion, Lane Rosenberg, Katelynn Rosenberg, Patch Loadholtz and Kage Rosenberg Two Brothers – Ernie Combs Yakima, WA Mark Combs Dewey, OK He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the service with burial in Oakwood Cemetery at a future date. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or The Living Hope Baptist Church. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 375, Parsons, KS 67357.
