Frankie A. Murphy, 86, of rural Bartlett, passed away at 4:05 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2022, at his home.
Frankie Alvin Murphy was born on March 10, 1936, to Clifford Alvin and Edith Nellie (Edwards) Murphy in rural Bartlett, Kansas. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in the Bartlett area, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1954.
Most of Frankie's life, except for a short time in Wichita, he lived on his current farm. While farming and ranching, he worked at the Bartlett Co-op for 40 years. For many years, he also raised registered Angus cattle.
He attended the Bartlett Christian Church. As his children were growing up, Frankie helped them with their 4-H projects, coached them in baseball and was a founding member of the youth baseball program in Bartlett. An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed hunting, especially coyote and coon hunting and was a member of the Kansas Coyote Hunters.
On April 3, 1955, Frankie and Carole Thomas were united in marriage. She preceded him in death on February 12, 1989. In May 1989, he married Cheryl Judy. She survives of the home.

One son – Thomas Murphy (Rhonda) of Altamont, Kansas
One daughter – Kristi Tullis (Tony) of Salem, Indiana
Six grandchildren – Tarran McCrary (Dustin); Shane Murphy (Samantha); Allie Lay (Kolby); Tiffany Melendez (Joe); Cameron Tullis (Nicole); and Lacy Hubbard
Twelve great-grandchildren
One great-great grandson
Three step-sons – Shawn Biggs; Shannon Biggs (Kelli); and Tres Biggs (Heather)
Nine step-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carole; and two sisters, Wilma Nading and Faye Barnett.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2022, at the Bartlett Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins at the church.
