Franklin Stark, 83, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Medical Lodges in Columbus.

Franklin Dudley Stark was born on December 6, 1942, to Irvin D. and Mattie J. (Lewis) Stark in Bartlett, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in Labette County, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1961.

Following high school, Franklin joined the United States Air Force. During his 20 years of service, he served in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Germany and traveled through Libya.

With a special talent for fixing anything mechanical, Franklin enjoyed and was good at fixing vehicles and small engines. He enjoyed family get togethers and holidays and his quiet, kind, sweet personality made him a good friend to many. He also enjoyed playing dominoes.

His survivors include two brothers, Irvin W. “Junior” Stark and his wife, Judy, of Wellington, Kansas; David Stark and his wife, Lauri, of West Mineral, Kansas; his niece, Lisa Low and her husband, Cecil, of West Mineral, Kansas; his nephew, Rick Stark of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Raymond Stark; and one nephew, D.J. Stark.

The graveside service with full military honors will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett.

Memorials are suggested to defray final expenses. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
