Frederick H. "Fred" Troegle

Frederick H. "Fred" Troegle, 99, of Parsons, died at 6:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 at Elm Haven West Nursing Home.

He was born March 9, 1915 in Parsons, Kansas to Orange Harrison and Jessie Lucille (Lytle) Troegle. He grew up in Parsons where he attended school and was a 1933 graduate of Parsons High School.

In 1940, he joined the United States Army Air Corps. While serving in the military for 25 years, he resided in various cities until retiring with the rank of Major in 1964. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for the Texas Highway Department in Kerrville, Texas for ten years.

He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church while living in Kerrville, Texas and a former member of the Good Sam's Chapter in Kerrville. He enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends.
He and Marjorie Helen "Margie" Rees were married on December 24, 1941 in Walters, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2003. Following his wife's death, he returned to Parsons in August of 2004.

Survivors include one sister, Clarice Miller, Girard, KS; sister-in-law, Virginia Burdick, Fayetteville, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Oran H. Troegle; and two sisters, Helen Robison and Ardith June Pierce.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
