Fredrick E. Vail, 70, of rural Edna, passed away the morning of Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at his home.
Fredrick Eugene Vail was born on July 28, 1951, to Raymond Eugene and Carol Sue (Engler) Vail in Parsons, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in the Angola area. While attending Labette County High School, he ran cross country. Following graduating from LCHS in 1969, he attended Coffeyville Community College.
In 1969, he also started working at Funk Manufacturing, which later became John Deere Company. He retired in 2008. Throughout those years, Fredrick also farmed and raised cattle.
He was a member of the Angola United Methodist Church. From 2013 to 2021, Fredrick served two terms as a Labette County Commissioner. In earlier years, he enjoyed team roping and riding motorcycles, and was the proud owner of a 1951 Panhead Harley. He also enjoyed working on old tractors.
On December 8, 1984, he and Anita R. Tunstall were united in marriage at the Angola United Methodist Church. She survives of the home.

Eight grandchildren – Jared Hawks, Dalton Hawks, Breanna Vail, Rileigh Vail, Allie Vail, Megan Wyrick, Raeleigh Wyrick, Maekenna Wyrick
One great-granddaughter – Sterling Akin
Mother – Carol Bowen of Coffeyville, Kansas
Step-mother – Lois Kay Vail of Cherryvale, Kansas
Three brothers – Martin Vail and his wife, Koko, of Coffeyville, Kansas
Jeff Vail of Coffeyville, Kansas
Joe Vail and his wife, Shelly, of Austin, Texas
One sister – Karen Gudde and her husband, Robert, of Edna, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Rod Vail and Danny Vail.
There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Richland Cemetery in rural Angola. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
