Gale M. Gilliland, 66, of Chetopa, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at his home.
Gale Mitchell Gilliland was born on November 11, 1953, to Harold and Edith (Wallace) Gilliland in Eldon, Missouri. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Chetopa, where he grew up and attended school. In 1972, he graduated from Chetopa High School.
He worked as a welder for Ed Plummer and Ottawa Manufacturing. One of his favorite activities was black powder shooting, and he was member of Chief Black Dog's Trail Muzzleloader Club and the National Rifle Association. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes.
Survivors include:
Two daughters – Marinda Boykin and her husband, David, of Grove, Oklahoma
Jenifer Reel and her husband, Jon, of Parsons, Kansas
Six grandchildren – Joshua Webber and his partner, Ashley; Jacob Boykin; Matthew Boykin; Dillon Williamson and his wife, Harmony; Hannah Reel and Adam Reel
Two brothers – Lael Gilliland, Sr. of Chetopa, Kansas
Darvin Gilliland of Chetopa, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bobby Gilliland; and one sister, Betty Harold.
There will be a Memorial Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
