Gary J. Gallo, 67, of Parsons, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016 at his home.

He was born April 21, 1948 in Parsons, Kansas to Joseph and Gertrude (Kennedy) Gallo. He grew up in rural St. Paul and was a 1966 graduate of St. Paul High School. He then served in the United States Navy four years. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he attended Labette Community College in Parsons for two years. After earning an Associate degree from LCC, he attended Pittsburg State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and later a Master's degree in Business Administration.

For a time, he worked in Kansas City for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company before moving to Chetopa where he owned and operated Chetopa Nursing Home. He then returned to Parsons where he worked as an accountant for Bogle Stations, Inc. He most recently worked in construction remodeling houses until retiring due to ill health.

He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul, a life member of the American Legion, and a life member of Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing softball in earlier years, and working crossword puzzles. He was an avid fan of the KU Jayhawks and New York Yankees.

He and Gail M. Wolverton were married December 18, 1971 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parsons. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary Joe Gallo, II; father-in-law, Howard Leon Wolverton; and a brother-in-law, Rollie Wolverton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. When attending Gary's service, the family requests casual attire including KU Jayhawk or New York Yankee apparel. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons with military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., following the rosary on Monday, at the funeral home.
