Gary A. "Jay" Austin, Jr.

Gary A. "Jay" Austin, Jr., 44, of Parsons, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected. He was born June 28, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Gary A. Austin, Sr. and Theresa (Humphries) Austin. He lived in Oklahoma until moving with his family to Parsons in 1975. He was a 1986 graduate of Parsons High School. He served in the United States Army four years. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Parsons where he worked at EFC, the Union Pacific Railroad for 12 years as an engineer, and was currently working for Nance Construction. He enjoyed mowing, gardening and was a Star Wars fan. He married Gina Nance. They later divorced. He and Holly Gwartney were married May 13, 2011 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. Coffeyville, OK One Son – Trevor Austin Cherryvale, KS Three Stepchildren – Aaron Gwartney Parsons, KS Brittany Howell Coffeyville, KS Dameon Howell and fiancée, Tommi Coffeyville, KS One Grandchild One Brother – Brent Austin Parsons, KS One Sister – Kimi Holsinger and husband, Rick Parsons, KS Three Nieces Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
