Gayle W. Baugher

Gayle W. Baugher, 79, of rural Parsons, died at 2:55 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri, where he had entered the day before.

He was born September 6, 1926 in Sheridan Township in Cherokee County to Wyman E. and Dora C. (Brader) Baugher. As a child, he lived with his family in rural McCune. The family farm was located on "Baugher Hill", as the neighbors called it.

They later moved to rural Parsons in 1937 when Gayle was 11 years old. He attended grade school at the Morrow and Caldwell schools. He graduated from LCCHS in 1944.

Gayle farmed for many years. He also was a cattleman and did custom silo filling. In 1968, he purchased, Baugher Equipment, a farm implement business from his father. In 1976, he added the Grasshopper lawn mower line which he continued to operate through 1999, at which time his son, Gregg, took over the business.

Gayle was a member of Paterea Church of rural Parsons; bible studies were regularly held in his home. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and sharing his love of the Lord. He served on the USD 506 school board for 11 years. He also served on the Rural Water District No. 2 and the District Water Boards.
He and Dorthea M. Morgan were married March 28, 1949 in Valeda, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2005. They had celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to her passing.

One Sister - Wymetta Higginson and her husband, Dale rural Parsons

Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chester on August 31, 2004; and a sister-in-law, Vogene on March 6, 2006.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2006, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends following the service.
