Delbert Eugene "Gene" Ball, 63, of Parsons, died at 8:54 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born December 10, 1952 in Parsons, Kansas to Johnnie and Dorothy (Greene) Ball. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons. He joined the United States Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his discharge, he returned to Parsons. He worked at Peabody Tec Tank, Southeast TV, and later did construction work.

Gene enjoyed listening to country music, playing pool, bowling, and watching TV. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a former member of Brown-Bishop Post #704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he called for bingo.

Gene and Beverly Rye were married on February 26, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

Two Brothers – John Gary Ball Parsons, KS
Jerry Wayne Ball Parsons, KS
One Sister – Janice Evans Parsons, KS

He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Ball; one sister, Geneva Grimmett; and an infant daughter, Lisa Leann Ball.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Military honors will be given by Brown-Bishop Post #704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
