George W. Burnett, 77, a lifetime resident of southeast Kansas, died at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at his home in Chetopa. His death was unexpected.
Being one of ten children, he was born May 1, 1929 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to John and Maggie (Moore) Burnett. He grew up and attended schools in that area.
He and Jesmon Alline Caldwell were married in Galena, Kansas on July 28, 1956. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1998. He had worked, and later retired, at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant as plant foreman. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He was a Baptist.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Following cremation, graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2006 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. There will be no visitation.
