George T. "Tommy" Cook, Jr., 61, of Chanute, passed away at 6:53 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
George Thomas Cook was born on October 13, 1960, to George Thomas and Betty Kay (Barnes) Cook in Boise City, Oklahoma. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Glen Carbon, Illinois, where he grew up and attended school. At the age of 16, he moved with his family to Wichita. For many years, Tommy worked as a painting contractor in construction.
He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Erie. More recently, he was attending a Baptist church in Chanute. Tommy loved spending time with his family. He had a real "green" thumb and enjoyed growing vegetables. He also enjoyed doing puzzles.

Three brothers – Tony Cook of Chanute, Kansas
Timothy Roux of Oklahoma
Tracy Cook (Michelle) of Columbia, Missouri
One sister – Tonya Ray (Brian) of Martin, Tennessee
He was preceded in death by his father, George Thomas Cook, Sr.; one brother, Terry Cook; and two sisters, Tammy Clements and Tina Cook.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Erie Baptist Church. Cremation is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
