George L. Wade, 72, of Chetopa, passed away the afternoon of Monday, December 30, 2024, at his home.
George LaVern Wade was born on June 22, 1952, to Wilbur Bryan and Lula Belle (Brown) Wade in Akin, South Carolina. As a young boy, he moved with his family to California, where he grew up and attended school. He honorably served in the United States Army.
For a number of years, George worked as a janitor at a federal courthouse in Washington state. He also worked in a flour mill.
He enjoyed tinkering with train sets and tracks, woodworking, making nicknacks and painting. Watching movies was also a favorite pastime.
Survivors include:
One daughter – Amanda Wade of Porterville, California
Two sisters – Phyllis Grace of Chetopa, Kansas
Marsha Boyer of Chetopa, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Carol Kalaho and Lois Neal.
No service is planned. Cremation is under the care of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa.
