Georgie A. Stevenson

Georgie Ann Stevenson, 78, of rural Edna, passed away at 4:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at her home.

Georgie Ann Elliott was born on July 2, 1944, to George R. and Verna R. (Smith) Elliott in rural Oswego, Kansas. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Oswego, graduating from Oswego High School.

After high school, Georgie Ann worked at the garment factory in Oswego for a time. On May 19, 1963, she and Dale Stevenson were united in marriage in Oswego. Following marriage, the couple lived in Augusta and then Coffeyville, before moving to the Edna area, where Dale began farming and have lived since. For many years, Georgie Ann worked as a payroll clerk for Medical Lodges, the Bank of Edna and Reliable Medical.

Georgie Ann attended the First Baptist Church of Chetopa. Her greatest joy came from raising her family. She also enjoyed quilting, weaving on a loom, and woodcarving.

Her husband – Dale D. Stevenson, of the home

One son – Rob Stevenson and his wife, Dena, of rural Edna, Kansas

One daughter – Lois Looney and her husband, Doug, of Andover, Kansas

Six granddaughters and one on the way

Two great-granddaughters

Two sisters – Edna Smith of Emporia, Kansas

Jane Garrett of Lubbock, Texas

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

No service is planned. Cremation is under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Altamont.
