Gerald D. "Bud" Stanley, 72, of Edna, died at 2:50 a.m., Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born November 22, 1944 in Mercer, Missouri to Richard and Alta (Cox) Stanley. He grew up in rural southern Iowa. He graduated from Lineville-Clio High School. He then completed a four year Certified Journeyman Union Apprenticeship. He joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #45. Mr. Stanley had a successful career as an electrician, working throughout the Midwest. He also worked at the former Golden Books and later Amazon in Coffeyville. Mr. Stanley found great joy in farming, something he did all throughout his career.
He enjoyed racing boats, cook outs, horseback riding, and was an active member of the Southeast Kansas Mounted Posse Club.
He and Judith Richard were married in 1963 and later divorced. On February 12, 1985, he and Ginger Kinser were married at Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on April, 23, 2007.

Eleven grandchildren – Elizabeth Douglass, Brittaney Kennell, Kelsey Colistro, Trevor Philbrick, Devin Philbrick, Shelby Braschler, Kaylie Jo Carpenter, Lance Stuart, Brooke Stuart, T.J. Elmore, Dalton Colistro.
Three Great-grandchildren – Carter King, Claudia Brown, and Ella Brown
Two brothers – William "Bill" Stanley and his wife Sally Clio, IA
Robert "Bob" Stanley and his wife Joan Nevada, MO
One Sister – Linda Bishop Mitchellville, IA
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by one brother Richard, one sister, Twila Sattje, and one grandson, Matthew Castorina
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday April 28, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in the North Edna Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Meals on Wheels Program at Labette Health. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
