Gerald Richard "Dick" Fouts

Gerald Richard "Dick" Fouts, 65, of Duluth, Georgia, and formerly of Mound Valley, Kansas, passed away January 19, 2018 at his home.

He was born October 5, 1952 in Parsons, Kansas to Gerald Eldon and Lola Mae (Hope) Fouts.  As a young boy, Dick grew up on a farm near Mound Valley.  He attended Altamont Grade School, graduated from Labette County High School in 1970, and later attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.  While in high school, he worked at Johnson Seed Company in Mound Valley.

On January 2, 1971, he and Kay Ann DeTar were married in Coffeyville. Following marriage, the couple lived in Wichita 10 years while he worked for Addressograph American Multigraph, specializing in high efficiency labeling, duplicating systems, and printing presses.  In 1979, he began his career with National Cash Register.  After leaving Wichita, the family lived in South Carolina, Dayton, Ohio, and relocated to Georgia in 2013.  While with NCR, he worked as a technology representative and contracts manager for their law department. Dick had held numerous titles through the years while working for NCR.  He was also a certified instructor for Microsoft NT. After 39 years of service, Dick retired on September 29, 2017.

He was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Norcross, Georgia. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, woodworking, and in earlier years, being a Boy Scout leader.  Dick especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mother – Lola Fouts, of Mound Valley, KS

One Son – Richard Aaron Fouts and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lincolnton, NC

One Daughter – Shannon Fouts Presti and her husband, Peter, of Atlanta, GA

Three Grandchildren – Abigail Rose Presti, William Eldon Fouts, and Ramzy Michael Fouts

One Brother – Dean Fouts and his wife, Debbie, of Mound Valley, KS

One Sister – Joy Fouts Trotnic and her husband, Ronald, of Wichita, KS

Brother-in-law – John McKinney, of Santa Ana, CA

Numerous Nieces and Nephews

A Host of Friends

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald E. Fouts, on December 9, 2008; and one sister, Brenda Fouts McKinney, on July 30, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).  These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
