Gerald A. "Gary" Parlett, 76, of Talala, Oklahoma, passed away at 11:23 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Oswego Health and Rehab.
He was born September 22, 1939 to Amos and Rosalie (Shira) Parlett in Labette City, Kansas. Gary grew up on the family farm and graduated in 1957 from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
Throughout his working years, Gary worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center in Parsons, Kansas, on grain elevators all over the United States, and for many years as a carpenter and millwright. He later formed Parlett Construction Company traveling extensively throughout the United States and Mexico while installing and working on bowling alley lanes. Before retiring, he worked as a pipefitter.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Gary loved woodworking, gardening, camping, boating, hosting cookouts for family and friends, and going to Steamboat Springs, Colorado on annual elk hunting trips with his brother, Doyle, his nephew, Chad Parlett, and numerous friends.
He and Donna M. Fox were married in Hill City, Kansas. To this union, three children, Dannette, Dawn, and Douglas were born. The couple divorced in 1976. He later married Janet Brown of St. Paul, Kansas. To this union, Cary Lynn was born. The couple later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Levi Amos Nash; one brother, Daniel Parlett; and two sisters, Shirley Ellis and Debbie Talbot.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be at Labette Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
