Gerald Lee "Slick" Stevens

Gerald Lee "Slick" Stevens, 61, of Parsons, died at 3:44 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2010, at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society. He had been in failing health.

He was born April 18, 1949, in Oswego, Kansas, to Kenneth and Ida (Zimmerman) Stevens. He grew up and attended schools near Prairie Village.

Through the years he worked in various factories and, most recently, had worked for Conard Pecan Company in Chetopa. For several years, he lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, before returning to Parsons in 2006.

He attended the Southern Baptist Church in Oswego. He enjoyed gambling, playing the slot machines, fishing, and playing bingo.

He and Janice Brown were married June 28, 1968, in Hallowell, Kansas. They later divorced. He and Joan Alice Scarbo were married April 16, 1983. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2010.

Survivors include:
One Daughter – Tammy Lewis and husband, Bill Ray Lewis, Jr. Galesburg, KS
Three Grandchildren – Amanda Jo Harris and husband, Tom Ray Harris
Shania Marie Lewis
Billy Ray Lewis, III
Three Great-Grandchildren – Makensy Rae lynn Stevens, Bryana Nickole Harris & Emma Irene Harris

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

The family will hold private committal services at a future date. Arrangements are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
