Geraldine Audrey Whitmire, 72, of Joplin, Missouri, died at 6:03 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin.
She was born October 16, 1937, in Chetopa, Kansas, to Edward Claude and Hollis (Caldwell) Whitmire. She grew up and attended schools in Chetopa and was a graduate of Chetopa High School. Through the years, she worked in housekeeping at a girl's dormitory in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Joplin. She enjoyed participating in church services at nursing homes, working crossword puzzles and word-find puzzles.

One Daughter – Stephanie Partner and husband Kansas City, MO
One Brother – James Jones San Diego, CA
Three Sisters – Forestine "Flo" Taylor Joplin, MO
Linnie Mae Jones Kansas City, MO

A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one daughter.
Following cremation, graveside committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa is in charge of arrangements.
